No one, as far as I know, used a polarity system that reversed the connection of tip and sleeve.
Sustain pedals for electronic keyboards have used basically five different approaches.ġ) A momentary connection that triggers a toggle of the sustain on or off - this was a poor design and not used any more by any manufacturer as far as I know.Ģ) An open / closed connection that is always open unless depressed.ģ) An open / closed connection that is always closed unless depressed.Ĥ) A variable MIDI message that sends a MIDI CC 64 value between 0 and 127 where 0 to 64 is off, 64 to 96 that on some synths emulates a partially depressed sustain pedal, and 97 to 127 for full on sustain.ĥ) a proprietary system requiring the manufacturers pedal.
